Children and chaos go hand in hand. If you’re planning your very own home daycare center and intend to create a successful business, remember that a clean and healthy daycare leave a fantastic impression on potential clients (or more likely, on their parents). Here are a few tips you should follow to keep your daycare clean and healthy: A great looking, clean-smelling daycare does wonders for first impressions-and creates lasting ones as well.

CLEAN!

One thing you always have to do-every day is sanitize everything. Paint is bound to spill, chocolate is bound to smear, and toys are bound to find their way into little mouths. Wipe down every surface with a mixture of bleach and water (before you gasp its one tablespoon bleach for every gallon of water). These include anything that the children touch. Do this every day on toy shelves, chairs and tables to prevent parents from wrinkling their noses when the come in. If you’re against using bleach, a hot water mixture with a little non-toxic germ killer can do the trick as well.

Launder all cloth items at least once a week. These items include sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and any other cloth items in your daycare center. If they are stained or vomited on, immediately replace them with fresh cloths. Don’t let the stains set in, immediately wash them with hot water.

Wash curtains and carpets once a month. This way, stains don’t set in. Curtains are notorious for keeping dirt around. You can change them weekly or wash them when you please. Kids are probably going to use your curtains as hiding places, so this will get rid of any leftover saliva, peanut butter or dirt from little hands. Wipe down mats and other porous surfaces that smells can stick to. Nothing turns a parent off faster than the lingering smell of feet or an overflowing diaper pail. Remember to regularly throw trash. It can get hectic in a day care center, so have a regular time per day.

Don’t leave things lying around. Encourage the kids to pick up after themselves or do it yourself. Rinse dishes immediately. Don’t let food, paint, glue or any other material stay on the floor. This will not only give a bad impression but it’ll be harder to remove these stains in the long run. Be neat about things like shoes, bags, umbrellas and coats. It will make clean up time so much easier for you.

HEALTHY!

Running a clean day care center can contribute a lot to the health of your charges. Here are a few other tips that will help you maintain a healthy atmosphere for you and your children.

Have requirements as well. If parents have chosen your day care center, make sure that you provide them with a list of necessary vaccinations and requirements that you have. This is to ensure the health and safety of all the children in your care. Children are notorious for having contagious diseases-you wouldn’t want to end up caring for an entire center full of kids down with the chickenpox.

Don’t let parents bring their children when their still contagious. Unless your day care has a special sick room, one contagious child out for a day won’t affect your profit. All of charges down with flu? That will.

Have a list of each child’s allergies and triggers. This will help you not only with planning menus but from accidental exposure that could lead to asthma or allergy attacks. Nothing beats a well-ventilated clean area in preventing them. Fresh air circulating through your daycare will do a lot of the work for you. On sunny, good days, keep the windows open. You can invest in a good air filter to keep those pesky germs from floating around and to clean the air of insect debris, pollen or other allergens. We don’t recommend the use of air fresheners because these can irritate delicate noses and some contain chemicals that may be harmful to kids.

Following these simple tips can keep your daycare clean for everyone and healthy for the children in your care. You will also benefit from a great child care environment both money wise and health wise.

You’ve decided to join the world of entrepreneurs. Congratulations! We’re here to give you the best and most straightforward advice on how to start your own day care business. Don’t have a lot of time? Here’s a basic run through of the eight things you need to start your day care business.

Step One: Have A Plan. What type of daycare will you putting up? Will it be for kids, an adult day care? How will you run it? Where will you put it? Start thinking about what you are going to do. Do some research (like checking the rest of this website out) and think of what you want to do to make your day care the best one around. Make your own business plan and stick to it.

Step Two: Fix your requirements. This include state and government licenses for day care centers. These vary from state to state. Make sure that you have all that you need to prevent yourself from running into trouble in the future. These include following the rules and regulations set by law. Insurance falls under here. Research on your possible tax deductions and government grants.

Step Three: Find your capital. In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need money. It’s a business; you need to sink some money into it before you can start making money. But think of the money you can make! There are many ways to jump-start your capital if you don’t have enough saved. Hold fundraises, find a potential investor or take out a loan. You can also turn your day care into a partnership by finding someone you trust. Get a silent backer or a government grant. Speak with your local business associations.

Step Four: Location. Location. Location. Where will you set up your day care? Will you run it from your home or lease? You need this to know what licenses are necessary, as well as to give you an idea of your expenses and possible income flow when you open the business. This will determine what type of clientele you will have. Find a great spot with lots of traffic-the kind of traffic you need. The perfect spot? An area where there are lots of families nearby, or an area where lots of families go to eat shop and spend time together.

Step Five: Spread the word. Tell people you’re opening a day care center. Advertise. Tell them what your center is going to be like. Harass-ahem, contact potential clients. Use your connections, your friends. Place ads. Stand in the street and hand out flyers. Place a flyer on your car rearview and drive around town. Try to get potential clients to sign in even before you open. You’ll breathe a sigh of relief on that first day, instead of anxiously watching the door.

Step Six: Set up your day care center. Here comes the hard part. This is the part where you buy your furniture, supplies and renovate (if you need to). This is the time clear out that basement that nobody uses or that apartment over the garage that you’ve been planning to convert into something. Paint, sand, child-proof your electric sockets.

Step Seven: Hire. If you’re planning on a big enterprise, now is the time to conduct interviews and begin hiring.

Step Eight: Be patient. Remember, you’re just starting out. There will be ups and downs before your business stabilizes. You can’t expect to be fighting off droves of parents on your first day open. Patience, determination and our helpful tips will help you turn your day care into a rip roaring success.

If you are facing going back to work after having a baby, chances are you are looking for a daycare provider. You can either choose to have your child in a home daycare situation, or a structured daycare center. If you choose a center, there are a few things you should look for to ensure you are getting a great daycare center for your child.

Narrow down your search by making a list of the things you need in a center. For instance, is it important that there be small groups of children, or that the center is close to home, or do you need a center close to your work? These are the kinds of questions that will help you decide on a smaller group of centers to choose from.

Next, talk to anyone you can to research your different possibilities. Talk to your pediatrician, friends, co-workers and referral agencies in your area. While talking to these people and researching different centers, remember to keep in mind your list of what is important. Create a list of centers. Find out if they are accredited, or if they have ever received an award.

Create a list of centers that have a good reputation and will meet your needs. Then call them. Conduct a phone interview and write down your initial feeling about this call. Ask about policies, fees, activities, numbers, philosophies and hours. Find out how flexible they are. Find out if you can request special things, such as certain foods. Find out if they will have the same teacher and how many children per teacher they have. Find out what the qualifications of the teachers are.

If you do not have a good feeling about your phone interview, cross those centers off your list. For the centers you had a good feeling about, schedule an interview at the center. Have them give you a list of the schedule and activities. Look around the center carefully. Is it clean? Is the temperature appropriate? Is the environment safe? Verify that the teacher per child ratio is what you were quoted on your phone interview. Do the children look like they are having fun? Ask all your questions and make sure there are no places you cannot have access to. Record your feelings about the in person interview.

Once you have narrowed down your list again, ask for references of children who are at the center and call those parents. Find out if they recommend the center. This will be one of the most telling parts of your research.

Finally, take your child to visit the center. See how he or she acts around the teachers and children. Does your child look like he or she would be happy in the center? Keep in mind that a young child is not going to rush into a new group and start playing the first time, so he or she may stay close by you. But you are a parent and you will probably have the ability to discern if he or she would eventually be comfortable in the center.

Once you find the center you would like, you need to enroll your child, because quality centers usually have a waiting list. Don’t let this discourage you. Get your name on the list and find a babysitter until a position becomes available. Getting a quality center is worth a short wait!

Starting a daycare center is a good idea. Actually, you can earn with it. Nowadays, there are heaps of women who put up their own daycare facility so to be financially independent. If you wish to start your own daycare, why not! Actually, you too can open up your own business. If you have patience and passion for children, if you love being around them, you can get started with this kind of business. Provided if you have the knowledge about daycare center and how to run it, go ahead…

Before operating your own daycare center, you have to think about and decide on how many children will you be serving in your facility. This is very important as you open such business and also when you think about expanding.

When you want to open up your own center, there are some questions you need to ask about on how many kids you will be accommodating in your daycare center.

Know the legal limitation in your state. In plenty states, you can only handle 4 children with the level of certification you possesses. If you do not have license, you can accommodate 4 children. In order to gain license, you have to get the necessary certifications, with this, you can accommodate more. Each state different regarding there rules and regulations, so it is best to check out the regulations of your state and make sure to follow it.

In thinking of the numbers of children you will handle in your facility, you have to consider the space. Will the children have enough space to play, to run around, and to sleep? The numbers of children that you will accommodate depend also with the space you have.

You have to consider how hard you want to work in your facility. If you want to handle more children, it simply means you will be having more work. Indeed, having more children and more work, you’ll get more profits. You decide. You can get someone to assists you in order to accommodate more children. In operating a daycare center, you have to make sure that you can give each child the right attention they need.

Yes, you need to decide the number of children you will look after to, then buy the stuff needed depending on the number you will accommodate. You have to buy toys, sleeping mats and other accessories.

In starting a child care business you should consider a lot of things on how to plan it. Planning on how to start the business is your first big step, you should organized things first before you proceed. Think of the things needed before you start.

Of course when we here the word business, it should be legal. Legality is one of the main things that you need to consider first. Zoning laws, liability insurance, income taxes, fire safety procedure are some of the list you need to pass in applying for a business permit.

Know your competitors on how they operate and what the services they offer in their centers are. Learn on how they market their center and what are the rates, rules and regulation, how they handle children especially those who are sick. In knowing all these things you may reach the expectation of the parents and as well organized the preparation of your center at the same time.

Learn how you will operate the business; attend training with regard with daycare, educating yourself on how and what to do in running a daycare center will help you out in managing the business. You can have a research or have a self study to know some information and tips on handling children. You must how children’s behavior, how to take good care of their health and some general news about children. Remember the more you know things about children will build a good foundation of managing a daycare center.

Make your home a safe place for the children; remember it is your responsibility to secure the health and safety of the children under your care. Secure place that you want to block off, secure fragile items out of reach of the children. Also you put sharp and pointed tools on a place that children can’t reach. Children are very curious, that no matter how you remind them, they will still do things out of curiosity. Cover sharp corners on table and furniture, secure fireplace and flammable materials. Flammable material like perfumes or spray may be dangerous if exposed to heat. Small pieces or parts of toy are not allowed in a play pen, they might accidentally swallow these pieces and may cause choke to children.

Starting a day care center has good points you can consider. If you want to make an income while staying home and caring for your own children, a day care center maximizes skills at homemaking and knowledge at parenting, plus it turns out profit. At a loss as to where to start? Here are quick and an easy pointer to guide your day care plans.

First, know state laws and other regulations in your area. Starting a day care center calls for compliance to these guidelines. These define the requirements as to the area, meals and feeding schedules, staffing concerns and necessities that your center must have to operate.

Write a business plan. Consider the state laws and other rules on child care institutions. You will need this when you have to source out funds from banks and lending institutions. A sound business plan will assure them that you know how to run the business and that all state laws are followed.

Examine financing options. If you cannot tap into your own resources, find a lender. Another option is to start out of your own home.

Once you have had all bases covered, you can start purchasing supplies, furniture and equipment. If you plan to start home-based, childproof your home.

Increase your knowledge in child care. Know first aid administration. Take CPR classes. Some regulations require that all staff be licensed in CPR before you start a day care center.

Advertise your day care facility. Flyers, pamphlets. posters, local radio plugs and newspaper ads can help bring in clients

Before starting a day care center, you should love working with children, before anything else. Work with parents. Make them your partner. Inform them of all that relates to their child. Caring for children is a hard work, but your love for them will guide you through.
