As America is going through the toughest economic period, managing your household expenses is becoming increasingly difficult. This is worse for single parents who have only their meager income to pay for all expenses.
The government seemed to have felt this and was generous enough to provide special incentives for single parents. From the grant money that the government puts aside every year for the welfare of the financially imbalanced, it provides diverse grants for the single parents.
As the biggest challenge for the parent is their child’s educational expense, the government allocates funds to grant agencies to distribute amongst the single parents who prove their need. These are namely the Federal Pell Grant; TEACH Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Academic Competitiveness Grant, and Institutional Grants. To avail these one has to contact the financial aid office of the university the child is applying to, and fill out an FAFSA form, which determines your financial standing.
To relieve you of your hardships, there are multiple grants that will help you and your child live comfortably. They are the National School Lunch Programs that provide free lunch to your little ones. Apart from this, there are food stamps, which are vouchers that are given to deprived families to buy food.
In addition, there are grants which pay for your energy bills and other household expenses.
Although, there are a wide variety of government grants, you can never be sure if you can avail one or not. This is because the application process is not easy and it checks whether you would be able to return to the economy in a constructive manner or not. If yes, then you should not waste any time and apply for the grants instantly.
