Education is not limited to certain sections of the society. Education is an important criterion for survival after the basic elements of life. A man without education and qualifications cannot lead a decent life. The significance of getting educated has to be inculcated in the minds of many sections of the society, especially the mothers. They do not realize that at this stage in their life, they can still find time for college. This message is actually brought to them by the various scholarships for mothers to return to colleges.

A mother realizes the importance of education at various instances in her life. However, due to the circumstances she cannot proceed further and stands stagnant in her journey for a better life. Because of this reason, the federal government insists upon providing knowledge to the mothers about the different scholarships available to them. The federal government is very keen on their part to provide education to the mothers and have allocated $30-$40 billion towards state and federal grants. Pell grants are most famous amongst the federal grants which are granted to the eligible students in the low-income class. The other federal grants which are offered to mothers to return to colleges are the FSEOG, TEACH grant, ACG and so on. The federal grants have to be requested and applied online through the online centre FAFSA.

eLearners is the website portal of EducationDynamics and believes strongly towards the noble cause of providing education to the mothers. It has united with various online universities and colleges and has announced to donate $5 million as scholarships for mothers. ‘Project Working Mom’ is the newest initiative on their side to effectively communicate their message through this campaign program.

Numerous scholarships for mothers have been provided by charitable and non-profit organizations. A list of some of these organizations or their scholarship has been mentioned below:

1)Sunshine Lady Foundation Scholarship Program
2)CLIMB Wyoming
3)W.I.S.P. Change Your World Scholarship
4)Ford Opportunity Program
5)The Fleming Associates Young Parent Program
6)Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship
7)Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards
8)The Jeanette Rankin Foundation Scholarship Program
9)Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation for Low-Income Women and Children
10)The R.O.S.E. Scholarship

Obama’s ‘Moms return to School’ program, as the name suggests, is the direct intervention form the President to tackle the problem of unemployment and underemployment amongst the mothers and provide them the due independence and strength to succeed all by themselves. The online education aspect of many of these programs is so convenient to the mothers that they can earn degrees without leaving the coziness of their homes.

In short, it is a dire need of the society to prompt the mothers to restart their education. Scholarships for mothers who intend to go back to colleges are an effective form of encouragement to light up their future lives with the drop of education.

Single parent scholarships can make it possible for parents who are barely making ends meet afford a college education. Parents raising children alone are often in a disadvantaged position when it comes to their career – especially if they are a single mother.

As a single parent, the needs of the children overwhelm the parent’s ability to get a job or education. Indeed even going back to college may be impossible because there simply is not enough money to do so. However, because of generous financial aid programs offered by the government and other organizations, it is possible to attend school as a parent with children.

You should look at scholarships if you:

1. Are a single mom or single father
2. Have a history of community service and/or good grades
3. Attending college or applying to attend a college

If you answered yes to any of the above, start applying for scholarship aid.

As a parent, it’s going to be tough to balance your obligations to your family with your school life. Finances will be tight as well, but the key to going to college as a parent with children is through gift aid like scholarships and grants. Various scholarships exist specifically to help parents raising children alone attend college. Now you can find these scholarships offered by the government, colleges, or non-profit organizations.

If you want government help, the best way to get it is to either look at the government grant website for a list of applicable grants or to consider getting federal student loan aid. Be careful if you consider loan aid though – while loans can make education easy to get, there is always the repayment period to worry about. As a parent with a family to feed, you simple may not have the funds to repay the student loan.

You can look at getting scholarships and grants through college financial aid websites. These websites will often list the grants and scholarships that you can apply for.

Want to get single parent scholarships? The best way to find scholarships for parents is to spend some time looking online around for these.

We cannot deny, education is very important to our life. Education will help everybody’s career. With having higher education level, the chance for better future is widely opened. It will help everybody to have better job with good salary. However, the chance is not coming to every people who need it.

A chance to continue to the higher level of education is widely opened for children or teenager or at least for the unmarried people. For those who have married and becomes a parent, it is a hard task to do. The reason why it becomes a hard task to do is because they have to spend their money for their family, to take care the children and another daily need expense. Those are their problems but it does not mean that those problems cannot be solved.

There are few solutions for continuing education problems. They are grants and scholarship. These education assistance’s are available for those who need it. If you wanted to know more about them, here it is the list of school-related assistance’s.

Pell Grants

This assistance is available for the student and the graduates as well. They can use the money that is given by Pell grant to fund their education. Several terms such as student’s projected family contribution, the price of attendance and enrollment status will affect the amount of money they receive. Pell grant is also helpful to student to pay every school expenses, including the tuition. The money can be given to the students directly or the school credits the funds to the student’s account, or maybe mixed. The student will receive the money once in a term. The money will be given by the institutions twice per academic year if the school does not define the school term.

Arkansas Single Parent scholarship

This scholarship is available for the single parent to continue their education. However, it is not directly help the single parent to get back to school. The scholarships provide an opportunity for the single parents to save more money by taking care their housing, childcare and tuition. The source of the scholarship may come from organizations.

According to Arkansas Single Parent College Fund, the aim of this scholarship are encouraging educational and training ambitions of low-income single parents. This program is served by volunteers who work on governing board of directors and set eligibility requirements for participation, recruit applicants and raise funds to match ASPSF grants. Again, the source comes from various sources. Donations from local businesses, community organizations, churches, charitable foundations and private citizens are contributing the three-quarters of fund.

University Alumni Scholarships

Alumni contribute this kind of program. The scholarship is sponsored by alumni. There are several examples of these scholarships. One of them is Coplan Donohue Single Parent Scholarship at the Minnesota State University. According to MSU, this program gives a $1.000 for the single-parent student with custody of your children. Several conditions must be fulfilled. They are completing 30 credits, prove evidence of scholastic excellence and be a citizen.

Getting a good job requires a college degree. This becomes more important when you have children. One reason for this change is because many good blue collar jobs have moved offshore and only the white collar professional jobs are left. The biggest problem with getting a college degree is the expense. This difficulty is compounded in a family with only one father or one mother. Continue reading →

If you want a good job, you need at least a college degree. This goes double if you have a family to support. This is especially important these days because so many good blue collar jobs have been outsourced overseas. But going to college can be very difficult when you are a single parent. One big problem is trying to find enough time to work at your day job, take care of your kids and study for your Bachelors degree everyday. Another big problem is finding the money to pay for your tuition fees. While the first problem is something that everyone needs to deal with on their own, there is significant help available for the second problem – it is not difficult to find student grants for single parents.

Some of these student grants are sponsored by the government and some are sponsored by non-government charities. The government scholarships typically offer more money – some of the more widely publicized grants like the Pell grants offer around $4000 to $5000. On the other hand, most private study grants offer only $1000 to $2000. Of course, there are also scholarships from large companies which cover the full college tuition fees, but these require you to work for the sponsoring company.

The government sponsored educational aid programs give different amounts of money depending on the applicants’ financial needs. Someone from a poorer family, i.e. lower wages and more dependents, will receive more money than someone from a more wealthy family, e.g. a child from a family where both parents are working. All of the government student aid can be applied through the FAFSA website. Money is available for both recent high school graduates as well as adults.

Most government educational aid do not cover the whole college tuition fee. However, this is not a problem because scholarship applicants are allowed to apply for more than one program. In addition to that, the applicant can also apply for private scholarships from non-profit charities.

When you fill up the FAFSA application form, you need to be careful. If you become categorized as someone wealthy, you will be disqualified from most of the government scholarships as well as many private scholarships which use the FAFSA results. Fortunately it is not too difficult to appear officially poor. The formula (called Expected Family Contribution) uses both your family’s income as well as assets. However, not everything that a layman thinks of as an asset is included in the calculation, e.g. some forms of insurance or life annuities. So one trick is to buy more insurance so that your family’s income appears lower. Another trick is to increase your mortgage repayment which will also make your income appear lower. Of course, accounting rules can change so you should consult an expert in this field before taking action on your own.

The same principles hold true when you apply for private scholarships. The poorer you seem to be, the more money you will be given. And there are many legal tricks which you can use to make yourself appear to have less money than you actually do.

There are more scholarships for single mothers than single fathers. One reason is that women are still considered to be at a disadvantage in the workplace, so there are more financial aid programs available to correct this imbalance. Unfortunately, this means that fathers who are widowers or divorcees will have greater difficulties in continuing their education to get better jobs. Rather than aiming for an expensive college degree, they may be better off getting more specialized technical certifications.

There are plentiful student grants for single parents, although single mothers have a greater advantage over single fathers. Getting 20% to 50% of your college tuition fees subsidized is usually not difficult.

Once a person has decided to raise their kids alone, one problem that they may encounter is how to adjust their finances in order to support their kids. Aside from this, they also have to do that they also have to remember that they also have their own needs to be met. With this, they would find government grants single parents helpful for this adjustment period.

Knowing that they can get immediate help, one of the first questions that will come into the single parents’ minds is to know whether they are eligible or not for this grants. To answer this question, the following are the answers that they want to know.

Above all, a parent will be eligible if they are divorced. Due to separation, the parent may be forced to take care of their children on their own so this will be a good help once they have decided to part ways.

Another instance when single parents can be eligible is when their spouses are dead or incapable to work. This incapacity to work could be caused by the spouse’s illness, injuries and other disabilities. Because of this, they are the only ones who can really take care of their kids.

Cases of abandonment will also make the other parent eligible for this government support. However, the time duration whether the case can be considered as abandonment is about a year or more. Once a parent has abandon his or her children for this period of time, then the other parent have the opportunity to get this type of support.

These are only some of the cases when a parent can be eligible for government grants single parents. They can also search online for eligibility details so they can be sure whether their case will be able to get them the support that they need.

The cost of college isn’t getting cheaper; in fact, day by day, it seems like it’s only getting more expensive. Teenagers and young twenty-something’s aren’t the only ones having a difficult time paying for school. Many adults are going back to school and a number of single mothers make up a large portion of those adults.

Just because you’re over the age of 18 doesn’t mean paying for school is a simple chore. Being a single parent means you have a number of other financial obligations to meet that often have to come before paying for school. Fortunately, financial aid is available in plentiful amounts and often targeted specifically towards single parents.

Many students may be unfamiliar with their options when it comes to student aid. For single parents, the most widely available assistance is usually in the form of grants. Grants are similar to scholarships in that students don’t need to repay the money after they’ve graduated. In a scholastic sense, however, grants are more typically awarded based on need and scholarships on merit.

Single parents are most likely to neglect themselves in order to make sure their families have everything they need. College often falls by the wayside, pushed to a secondary (or even tertiary) slot. In actuality, earning a college education isn’t a selfish step that will take away from your family. It’s one of the best things you can do as a single parent for your family.

The first step in applying for any financial aid is filling out a FAFSA. The FAFSA – which stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid – is a form that covers basic financial information for students and can be filled out online or in person. The Department of Education begins accepting applications January 1st of each year. Federal money is issued on a first come, first served basis, so it’s better to turn your FAFSA in as close to that date as possible.

Federal financial aid supplied almost $168 billion to students in need for the 2010 – 2011 school year, so there is definitely money going out to the students in need. Federal student aid is typically the most reliable source of tuition assistance simply because of how much money they offer. Federal aid may include grants and scholarships that are offered on a need-basis, so as a single parent your likelihood of being awarded aid is increased.

The other two places to go for tuition assistance are your school, your state and finally, private lenders. Single mothers especially make up such a large segment of the college population that many schools and states offer grant programs specifically for single mothers. Many private corporations and not-for-profit organizations also aim to assist single mothers and single parents – you can talk to your financial aid office at your college in order to get more information.

Regardless of where you search, there is financial aid in the form of grant and scholarship funds available for single parents and paying for college is within your ability. Earning a college degree may seem less important than focusing on your family, especially when money is tight, until you start seeing all the options available. Taking a trip to the financial aid office may help ease your worries and help pay for traditional and online college, a smart investment for yourself and your family.

It is hard to manage your financial obligations if you are a single parent. This is because the entire financial burden is on your meager shoulders and there are too many bills to pay for. In addition, you have to provide for your children’s educational expenses and their lunches and extra curricular activities so that they do not feel left out.

As much as you want to provide for your children, you cannot.

Now you do not need to worry. This is because the American government is providing special grants for single parents that will help you pay for your child’s lunch, your household spending, your medical insurance and your housing.

However, it is not easy to avail these grants. The reason is that these grants are provided to those who prove to return productively to the economy. Therefore, if you think you can either return to college on a scholarship, set up a new business, or do hospital services in exchange of medical aid, you can surely avail any of these grants.

Before applying, we advice you to check the various government websites and familiarize yourself with the grant filing process. The greater the information you attach with your application form to prove your need, the more likely you are to get selected. If you are not found needy, you will not be accepted.

There are grants that your children can apply for, and receive financial aid. For this, you are supposed to fill the FAFSA applications, which determine your financial standing.

Apart from this, there are scholarships that can be granted to you to attend school. This would enhance your qualifications, and be an addition to your monthly income.

Avail all the opportunities that come your way because you can become lucky with anyone.

When the matter of child custody and rights to a child evolve, the battle is a long one with unmarried parents. Married parents who get divorced do not have to prove paternity to retain rights, while parents who are not married may be required to prove paternity. a family law lawyer is best to consult with on your rights as a parent and should be consulted before entering into any legal proceedings or filing for custody or child support.

If a child is born out of wedlock, the mother is automatically granted custody unless an adjudication or registration of paternity is filed. For the father to seek custody or visitation rights, he must establish that he is the father of the child through blood tests or DNA tests. Consult with a family law attorney on the best way to obtain a paternity test.

Establishing paternity does not automatically guarantee custody, though. Fathers must obtain a court order if they want to be granted custody of the child; otherwise most courts still assume the mother has custody.

But unmarried fathers who prove paternity and obtain court orders are still entitled to the same rights as a divorced father as long as there are no issues that would make that person a threat to the child such as domestic violence and abuse.

If both partners agree on a custody and visitation plan, the judge will usually sign it and it will become a court order. But in cases where one or both parents do not agree on a plan, the court will resolve the issue. The best way to resolve custody disputes is through the court, as a court order will be a legal document by which both parents must abide.

There are two types of custody that must be discussed. Physical custody refers to who the child will live with permanently, while legal custody refers to who will make decisions about the child’s healthcare, education, religion, etc.

Most custody arrangements grant joint legal custody and sole physical custody with the non-custodial parent given visitation rights. However, if it is determined that one of the parents is unfit to make decisions about the child’s life or it is in the child’s best interest not to have any contact with the other parent, sole physical and legal custody is often granted to one party. Joint physical custody is agreed upon and/or granted in some cases as well.

Unmarried parents with further questions about child custody are encouraged to seek legal counsel.

After a long career and a very successful life that is filled with material things and fabulous trips to hard-to-pronounce destinations, many are finding that they are still not happy. This economic crisis that the world is facing has helped some people to step back and take stock of their lives. Watching investments vanish into thin air has caught many by surprise. Despite retaining a certain level of financial comfort, they are in a word…alone. For many, this newfound loneliness and lack of satisfaction will translate into the need to bring someone new into their lives. They will make, for the first time, make a shift in priorities that won’t focus so much on being a part of the “in” crowd or being the “it” person; instead, they will want to become something more…a parent. Sometimes it takes a hard life lesson to help people to realize that life is so much more precious when you have someone to share it with, and a child can make it seem even more wonderful and fulfilling. Many may have suppressed the desire to have a child and have reach a point, physically, of no return.

The biological clock has stopped ticking or the thought of actually becoming pregnant at an advanced age is not at all appealing or realistic for them. In this instance, adoption is the perfect option. As people learn that they have all of this love inside of them that they have harbored, the thought of adoption seems more like a real opportunity for them to finally have that missing piece of their life’s puzzle. I remember feeling so ready to be a mom that it hurt. I only wish I had started earlier and had adopted more children. There are so many children available for adoption due to different circumstances. For those that are seriously considering taking the steps to initiate and go through the adoption process, they should realize that it is not simply deciding but taking the proper steps to make the dream a reality. Like anything important in life, adoption is multifaceted, intricate, and for some, a long and arduous process.

If someone is serious about becoming a parent through adoption, they must be able to show they are prepared to become a parent and present their case as to their ability to love, care for, and raise a child. It’s about more than just about money. Children don’t care how much money you have. They are not easily impressed by your custom-made suits or couture handbag. Children that enter your life through adoption need love, commitment, and a parent that is willing to care for them unconditionally. If that is what you have to offer, then adoption may be right for you. This global recession is having a huge impact on people and their relationships. From single people looking for mates through matchmaking services to couples looking for a child to shower with love through adoption, the bottom line of it all is that life is about more than just money. Life is about companionship, sharing, caring, and knowing that you are more than just a commodity or talking head. We are all people, rich or poor, great or small. For some ideas on the many ways to afford adoption, visit www.AdoptionFinancingInformation.com. If this economic crisis has brought you to this life crossroad, then you should seriously consider how to make that next step and open that new chapter in your life. You know that the culmination of your life’s experiences means that you have a lot to offer. Adoption can allow you the chance to give of yourself to another person…a child. The happiness that adoption makes possible will far exceed the years of financial returns that have been the hallmark of your life. In fact, money can’t buy that type of happiness. That real, long term happiness can only be acquired through love, hope, and care…which is exactly what you could give and receive from your newly adopted child.
