If you are participating in some sort of educational, research, or business activity as a single parent, there may be some sort of government grant for single parents available to you.
Each year the government gives millions of dollars in grant funding to individuals and organizations who have need money to do something the government wants to invest in.
If you are a single parent who is starting a business for example, you might be able to get some financial assistance to help you meet your financial needs. Now the exact amount of funding will vary depending on the grant. The government assists needy people in going back to college, for example. As a single parent, you might qualify for a college grant should you head back to college. There are also quite a few business grants available as well. This may sound like a lot of work, but you actually want to apply for grants that are harder to find because there is less competition for those grants. Less competition means you have a better chance of getting the funding you need.

College grants for single parents do exists and you can get one if you know how. These days with a terrible economy if full swing, it’s hard for people to afford college. Hardest hit are single parents who are raising a family on a single income.
